More than just a place to stay
Himatangi Beach
Top10 Holiday Park
Experience the Freedom
Himatangi Beach Holiday Park is situated on the west coast of the lower North Island, New Zealand. We are approximately seven kilometres from State Highway One, half an hour from Palmerston North and two hours north of Wellington. We are the perfect spot to stop at after doing the Tongariro Crossing, or before sailing Cook Strait on the inter-island ferry, or to just get away from it all. Our park is three hundred metres from the wild rugged beach, where you can check out the rustic driftwood huts or even make your own. Sit on the beach and enjoy the most amazing sunsets, play in the waves, throw a line out to catch some fish, or explore the massive sand dunes.
The local Cosmopolitan Club has restaurant nights on Fridays and Saturdays, as well as other events and activities throughout the year. The general store across the road offers coffee, takeaways and everything else one could ask for.
The kids will love the adventure playground, skate park, and BMX track. For some family fun, why not have a game of tennis at the local court? And don’t forget the dog, running the length of the beach, chasing a stick into the ocean. There is something for everyone at Himatangi Beach Holiday Park.
Himatangi Beach is great all year round. Wind, rain, sunshine; what can beat watching the waves roll in while enjoying fish and chips on the beach.

Five Stars
We had planned to stay 2 nights. When we drove into Himatangi Beach Holiday Camp, it felt like. Jeepers this looks fantastic. The Owner greeted us very Welcoming and showed us the Awesome Facilities..(in Actual fact over the the 4 days I was Amazed how very Clean all the facilities were and very ‘up-to-date’. .the children’s playground catered for all ages, cleaned up daily..heaps for them to play in, the kitchen were s.s.and again clean and plenty benches n sinks etc., washing machines n dryers again excellent. A library to swap books n magazines which I used several times..heaps n heaps of commodities. Staff obliging and nothing is no trouble..(as we stayed on)..The sites were large for Motorhomes, Buses Caravans n Tents…The beach about 5 mins walk up a footpath. Beautiful Beach and Surf Life-saving on Duty over the summer. ..Great, flat beach..Great walks..One of the Better Places we’ve stayed at. Definitely going back real soon.

Everything you could possibly want and need, Excellent!!
We have stayed in many caravan parks, This is by far the cleanest and friendliest. Safe environment to bring our son, and also our pet spaniel Molly Moo. Everything you can think of is there. And the owners are so accommodating. We unfortunately work every day in the summer, so the “colder months” are our only family holiday times. With the power included (caravan), the extremely clean bathroom/kitchens and surrounds, the winter is absolutely no dampener on our holidays. We’ll be booking for a 3rd time this year, very much looking forward too it. Ohhhh and the gorgeous Beach is a few minutes walk, win win!

A Place for all to stay
This was our first time to Himatangi Beach Holiday Park, what a wonderful camp, so clean and tidy, the amenities were spotless, a very well run and cared for camp, will definitely be going there again, the lady at Reception was very friendly and informative, would definitely recommend this as a place for all to stay.

Wonderful peaceful spot!
I’ve stayed here many times now over the past couple of work seasons. The staff are helpful, cheerful and friendly. The facilities are top notch and always clean to perfection, never seen it dirty. Well run and presented. All forms of accommodation available, budget, camping, caravan, family units. A couple of minutes walk and you’re at the beach for sunset. Fish and chips down the road too. Can’t recommend it enough. It maybe a 30 minute drive from Palmerston North but it is worth it!

Awesome Camp, absolutely loved our stay here. Would highly recommend
We stayed at Himatangi Beach Holiday Park for two weeks over Christmas on a powered tent site. The camp is really well run with amazing facilities. I have never come across a camp that had such clean toilets, showers, kitchens etc. The couple running the camp are so nice and worked very hard to make sure everyone was enjoying their stay.

Cleanliness is next to godliness.
We drove off the Ferry and decided we’d skip Wellington and begin heading north immediately. But where were we going to stay. We are Top10 members so looked for that first. The reviews on the nearest Top10 didn’t read favourably, so we decided to skip that. There was an option to head for Palmerston North but I’d stayed at that campground before and didn’t rate it. Then Mrs Wife says ‘This place has some great reviews – Himatangi Beach Holiday Park’ – so off we went. Well….the reviews were right on the money. This place is simply amazing. Shame we were just there to get our head down for the night before leaving early next morning. The bathrooms and toilets were SO CLEAN!!!! The basins were like mirrors they were so shiny. There is a stand alone shower with heat lamps in the roof & a shower head that you can also hold in your hand. This is a fantastic shower and I loved it. Hosts couldn’t be more helpful. Such a quiet park we had a fantastic nights sleep. I usually save up all my reviews until I have arrived back home. But I couldn’t stop thinking about this amazing park so am reviewing now. This park is the cleanest and happiest park we’ve stayed at so far on our travels and leaves every Top10 we’ve stayed in….in the dust. Mrs Wife is of the opinion that this would be the cleanest park in all of Australasia.
